How to create E-Invoicing portal account

GSTN has opened up registration in the E-Invoicing portal for Taxpayers with over 5 crores turnover. This article explains how you can create an account in the E-Invoicing Portal.

  • Visit www.gstn.org
  • Under Important Links, click on E-Invoice
  • Click on the link as shown in the screenshot below to access the E-Invoice sandbox.

Note - This link accesses the E-Invoice sandbox mainly for developers testing the E-Invoicing system. This portal is not where you will be creating E-Invoices.

  • To create an account, click on Login
  • Click on Register here to register for the first time.

Note - At present, the E-Invoice portal registration is available only for taxpayers with over 500 crores. The E-Invoicing portal will open up registration for taxpayers with lesser turnover shortly.

  • Enter your GSTIN and the government portal will automatically fill in the Organization Name under Trade Name. Enter your GST Registered mobile number and Email address along with the Captcha.

Note - The E-Invoice portal sends OTP to login to the registered Phone number and Email address.

  • Click on Validate. The E-Invoicing portal will now verify if the taxpayer details entered are correct and if they have over 500 crores turnover.
  • On the pop-up, please click on OK to proceed.
  • Click on Send OTP and click on OK on the confirmation window.
  • Enter the OTP.
  • Please enter the Username and Password for E-Invoicing portal.
  • Click on Create.
  • The portal will send the Client ID and Client Secret to the registered Email address and Phone number.

Note - The Username and Password for the E-Invoicing portal is different from the credentials for Government portal and the E-Way bill portal.

  • You may now login to the E-Invoicing portal with the Client ID and Password created.
  • Enter the GST number, Client ID, Username, Password and Captcha. Click on Submit.

Once you are successfully logged into the E-Invoice API Testing System, you may mainly access the:

  • Public Key of the E-Invoicing system
  • API end points to which you will make the URL request
  • Sample Payloads
  • Utilities to validate JSON
